It’s been six years since I first started this blog. A lot has changed since I first started this. What was once purely a tech blog has turned into a site for my growing passions.  While I continue to write about technology, I find that I also need to write about the other interests in my life.

Cooking has become one of my growing passions. As a kid I always wanted to have my own chemistry set.  But I guess my dad thought it would be a bit dangerous and I ended up with a microscope set instead.  Years later I find that fooling around in the kitchen is the nearest thing I could get to doing chemistry experiments.  The wonderful thing about this is I get to eat my output should it turn out to be successful.  I love to collect old and classic cookbooks and see if I can recreate them.  I am inspired by the likes of Julia Child and Ina Garten.  These two have proven that you can still pursue your calling even when you’re well into your late thirties.

Photography is another passion that I’m reviving once again.  I hardly bring around my Olympus E-500.  So I decided to make use of my T-Mobile G1 as much as possible.  I was inspired by the photo blog Ophelia’s Little Adventure which showcases the adventures of a hamster skull.  My best friend gave me a jumping brain and this became my muse for my own photo blog, Waldo the Brain.  With the help of a couple of Android applications to help compensate for the phone’s crappy camera, I’m able to get good shots of Waldo to post on the blog.  So far I’ve posted a good number of pictures on the blog already and I’m looking forward to posting more.

Of course, I’ll still be talking about technology.  Most likely I’ll be talking a lot about Android development since that’s what I’ve been mostly doing  nowadays.  I might also be talking about the lessons learned as I attempt to start up a business.  It’s going to be another exciting year for The Geekette!  And hopefully it will result in more stuff to share on this blog.
