GrEeeat things come in small packages

Despite owning a full-feature laptop, I was still able to find situations where having a tiny netbook is most advantageous.  Like this very moment I'm writing this post.  I'm on the road doing my daily commute and there are things I'd like to write about that just can't wait.  Since the shuttle is a bit cramped, my 14-inch laptop would be cumbersome to use in this situation.  The small footprint of the netbook makes it easy enough to put on my lap without bothering the people beside me.  It takes a bit of time to get used to the keyboard though. But after that, it's easy enough to touch type my words onto the text eitor without having to look at the keyboard.  Keeps me from getting dizzy too. Unless the driver drives like a madman.

The netbook also serves as an ebook reader! Again, the small size allows me to open it up in cramped spaces.  Also, unlike dedicated ebook readers, I can open those compiled html (CHM) files.  The bright 7" widescreen is also perfect for some video viewing. Which reminds me, I should get the latest episodes of House.  The stereo speakers are awesome!  The sound is nice and crisp. I don't need a separate set of speakers if I want a friend to watch a show or listen to music with me.  The Asus Eee 4G does run a bit hot though. But it's a minor quibble for me.

The one other thing I find useful for this is I can store some of my recipes here.  It's possible to bring this into the kitchen to view a recipe while I cook. I will need to temporarily drape saran wrap on top of the keyboard to keep it from getting floured!

Whatta huge bag of tricks

Er... your backpack was already ginormously heavy way back then. And now you're actually carrying TWO laptops with you? Oh boy, your daily commute is beginning to sound like a workout! :o

Not that heavy

It's not as if I have really heavy gear. The backpack just holds my laptop with the power cables, phone cables and the external hard drive. The netbook is so light, my toiletries kit seems heavier than it. Besides, the netbook and toiletries can be found in my other bag. So it isn't all in the backpack.

Double dipping

Er, this means that you actually bring two computers with you to work!

And to think your backpack was already way too frackin' heavy ways back! :o

Careful!

Careful about typing in the FX,though. It might get snatched!

No worries!

I normally write in the private shuttle and not the public FX. I wouldn't even take my phone out in a public FX! :)
